Our 90-Degree Angled Female NPT adapters are fittings designed to provide secure, leak-free connections in hydraulic systems using the National Pipe Tapered (NPT) thread style, a USA standard for tapered threads commonly used in fluid and gas transfer applications. These adapters feature a 90-degree angle, allowing for efficient routing of hoses and pipes in confined spaces. NPT connections rely on thread deformation, where the metal-to-metal threads of the connectors form a seal when tightened. This design is ideal for single assembly applications and provides an effective seal without the need for additional sealing materials, though we recommend using a thread sealant for optimal performance. NPT threads can be identified by measuring the thread diameter and subtracting 1/4" to determine the nominal pipe size. While NPT connections offer strong sealing capabilities, they are not recommended for connections that will be frequently assembled and disassembled, as over-tightening can lead to damage or leaks.
