Our Series 9035 Straight Male BSPP x Female NPT hydraulic adapters are designed to connect a British Standard Pipe Parallel (BSPP) male fitting with a National Pipe Tapered (NPT) female fitting. BSPP and NPT share similarities in their use for fluid and gas transfer, but their thread pitches, outer diameters (OD), and thread forms differ. BSPP features parallel threads, while NPT utilizes tapered threads that seal by thread distortion, making thread sealants essential for securing these connections. BSPP male connections are similar to American NPSM male connections, but they are not interchangeable due to slight differences in thread pitch and OD. These adapters are ideal for use in high-pressure systems where secure, leak-tight connections are necessary. Additionally, some BSPP adapters come with elastomeric seals to enhance sealing performance. NPT connections, which rely on metal-to-metal thread deformation, are best suited for single assembly applications, as frequent disassembly can wear down the threads.
