Our Series 9035S Straight Male BSPP x Female NPT hydraulic adapters are made from carbon steel and feature a washer and o-ring for enhanced sealing. These adapters connect a British Standard Pipe Parallel (BSPP) male fitting to a National Pipe Tapered (NPT) female fitting, which are commonly used for fluid and gas transfer. While both BSP and NPT connections are similar, they have different thread forms and pitch, with BSPP using parallel threads and NPT using tapered threads. The seal is formed by thread distortion, and thread sealants are recommended for securing these connections. BSPP male threads are comparable to NPSM male threads, but they are not interchangeable due to differences in pitch and diameter. The adapters include a captive seal made with metal-to-metal angled surfaces or a combination of metal and o-rings to ensure a secure, leak-free connection. NPT connections, which rely on thread deformation for sealing, are ideal for single-assembly applications but may wear out with frequent disassembly.
