Our Straight Male BSPP x Female NPT hydraulic adapters connect a British Standard Pipe Parallel (BSPP) male fitting with a National Pipe Tapered (NPT) female fitting. While both BSPP and NPT are used for fluid and gas transfer, they differ in thread pitch, outer diameter (OD), and thread form. BSPP has parallel threads, while NPT features tapered threads that create a seal by thread distortion. For proper sealing, thread sealants are recommended. The BSPP male connection is similar to the American NPSM male but is not interchangeable, and the NPT female connection relies on metal-to-metal thread deformation for a leak-tight seal. Additionally, some series of male BSPP adapters come with an elastomeric seal, while others do not, offering flexibility depending on the sealing requirements of the application. These adapters are ideal for high-pressure systems where secure, durable connections are needed.
