Description
Our Series 7040 Straight Female NPT x Male BSPT hydraulic adapters are designed to connect components with different thread types, specifically NPT (National Pipe Taper) and BSPT (British Standard Pipe Tapered) threads. NPT and BSPT threads are similar but differ in thread pitch, outer diameter, and form, so care is needed when making connections. These adapters create a seal through thread deformation, meaning thread sealant is recommended to ensure a leak-proof connection. The male BSPT adapter is compatible with both BSPT and BSPP female ports, while the female NPT side uses the U.S. standard for tapered threads. The seal is achieved using metal-to-metal contact or a combination of metal and an O-ring, making it ideal for applications where a secure, permanent connection is needed, but disassembly is not frequent. Thread sizes are designated by fractional dimensions, such as R 1/4 for BSPT 1/4-19.
